The Polish Navy Structure
The Polish Navy Command & Staff have their place in the Headquarters building situated in Gdynia. Maritime Operations Centre assures commanding of the Naval Forces and is responsible for coordination of all missions conducted at sea, in the air and on land.
The Polish Navy Staff is the main planning & coordinating body which supports the Command. The Staff personnel is responsible for routine daily activities. The Training Department is responsible for all aspects of military & naval training of all personnel & units in the Navy including exercises at sea.
Polish Navy forces are structured into three major tactical components, directly subordinated to the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Navy:
The 3rd Flotilla groups the striking component of the forces, i.e. combat ships (Missile Frigates, Fast Patrol Boats & Anti-Submarine ship), submarines and specialised salvage ships, hydrographic vessels and auxiliaries. The 8th Flotilla is composed mainly of Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MCMv) & transport and mine-layers ships. The Naval Aviation Brigade is the air arm of the Polish Navy. The inventory includes mainly patrol aircraft and helicopters (SAR & ASW). The main base of the Brigade is situated in Gdynia-Babie Doły. The Polish Navy Training Centre is situated in Ustka.
